| Elgin
Library was dedicated on June 7, 1999. The planning and funding
for the building began in 1993. The three-acre site and building
at 2642 Main St. were donated by Charlotte Snyder in 1993.
Funds for the renovation and new construction of the branch
were raised from grants and appropriations from town, county,
state and federal sources, and local private funds. The branch
is 3,600 square feet, it contains over 10,000 volumes, it provides
approximately 650 audio cassettes, 500 video cassettes, 20
magazine titles, Internet access stations, a public meeting
room and a special children's area. |
