Dungeons and Dragons with the Library!

Hey teens/tweens!

Have you ever wanted to play D&D but just didn’t know how? Didn’t have a group to play with? We’ve got you covered with our latest online programming opportunity: KCL Dungeons and Dragons! If you don’t already know a little about D&D, let us clue you in before your first dungeon dive and don’t forget to fill out the sign up form at the bottom of this page.

What is D&D?
Dungeons and Dragons is a fantasy role playing game that was created in 1974 by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson. The game had over 3 million players worldwide by 1981. Since 1997, Wizards of the Coast (a subsidy of Hasbro) has published the game. D&D is credited with being the start point of modern role playing games.

Why D&D with the library?
D&D encourages critical thinking, creativity, and teamwork. The game also promotes math skills. It is also credited with getting a lot of people out of their shells and socializing with others. And with the library, you can do this from the comfort of your own home.

How will we play?
Our Dungeon Master, Mark Wood, will create a world for you to dive into. He will walk you through how to play, how to create your character, and will then host a game you participate in with your very own character!

What should I expect?
The library is hosting an ongoing series and each session will build upon each other. Please plan to attend all! The first session will explain rules and build character traits for the roles players will use. The next four sessions will create a campaign with challenges. The Zoom link will be sent via email, so please have your parent fill out the form below to sign up.
