There are various online resources available for finding information on different educational levels. Teachers, parents and students can explore these resources for assignments as well as for fun. These resources are provided through the South Carolina State Library’s Discus program.

Four levels: Elementary School, Middle School, High School, and Public Libraries
Elementary school students have searching capability for information found in age appropriate magazines and books. The collection includes the Funk and Wagnall’s New World Encyclopedia, American Heritage Children’s Dictionary, and the Encyclopedia of Animals. Also included are photos, maps, flags, text-to-speech articles for struggling readers and Lexile reading levels for full-text articles.
Middle school students have searching capability for magazines, newspapers, books, biographies, country reports, primary sources, and videos. The collection also includes the materials found in the elementary school level.
High school students have the same searching capability as the middle school. The collection also includes the Columbia Encyclopedia and the CIA World Fact Book in addition to the other materials.
Public library users have the same searching capability as the high school, but is designed for teens through adults. The collection also includes regional US business publications, industry reports and market research reports along with medical encyclopedias, reference books and health-related topics designed to support studies in history, literature, and science. The resource has a colorful, mobile-friendly design.
