KCL Updating to New Online System

Big changes are coming soon to your online experience.

Kershaw County Library’s online catalog, SCLENDS, will soon have a whole new look. The process will begin on June 18 and continue through the end of the month.

What does this mean?

The new software will power the SCLENDS catalog. The catalog searches for books, places holds, and manages your account. For library staff, the catalog is what we use to locate, add, and manage all materials and library accounts.

How will this affect access to the catalog?

The library catalog will be unavailable from June 18 through June 21 while the data transfers. You can check out materials during this time, but you won’t have access to your library account, and we won’t be able to renew or place holds. No fines will accrue during this time.

Will this affect access to new books?

While our data is being transferred over to the new system, we won’t be able to add new books from June 12 through June 22. We will do our best to make sure that books that are released at that time are available as soon as possible.

Will my password/PIN stay the same? If it changes, what will it be?

The PIN will change to the last four digits of the phone number that we have on file. Please get in touch with your local branch if you would like to update your phone number. PINs can be changed after we go live on June 22nd.

Will the library be open?

We will close early on Wednesday, June 21 at 1 PM and will be closed all day on Thursday, June 22nd to test and troubleshoot. We will be answering phones on Thursday to assist you if you need help or have questions. You should be able to access your online account on that day.

How will this affect your library crew?

While we are doing our best to prepare, inevitably, there will be a few snags along the way. Please bear with us as we get familiar with the new system.

When it’s all said and done…

After the transition, things will look different when you search the catalog, place holds, and log in to your library account. We are all learning together, and our library staff is here to help!

Will my checkout history transfer to the new system?
Unfortunately, your checkout history will not migrate to the new system. If you want to keep this information, we encourage you to print a copy on or before June 18.

What about fines?

Good news! Most fines will not carry over to the new system. Enjoy the clean slate and start using your library!

If you have damaged/lost material replacement fees or fines on currently overdue books, these fees will still move over to the new system.

But wait – there’s more!

We are also happy to announce that this change brings a new, bona fide SCLENDS app! We’ll share more details on this exciting addition in the weeks ahead.
