Yes, The Library is Open!

Welcome back to Kershaw County Library! We’ve missed you!

Starting June 1, our plan is to reopen the Camden and Elgin libraries for selecting books and using our WiFi / public computers. Bethune will still have book pickup, but be closed to the public.

To be as safe as possible, some library experiences will be different during this phase.

Patrons are asked to limit time in the library to one hour.

Programs will remain virtual (check out our Facebook page) and we are asking folks to read library materials at home, rather than in the library.

For now, WiFi / public computers will be “non-recreational” to make sure patrons will be able to look for work, catch up on online classes, or do research. Seating in the library will be available for computer / WiFi use.

Seating in the library is limited to computer and WiFi use only.

Books and DVDs are available to checkout. Magazines and newspapers are not available because we are limiting materials that are difficult to decontaminate.

You can return books either inside or in our book drops located outside. When you return items, they stay on your account for three days as we clean them and let them sit (as part of the decontamination process) for three days.

We are unable to take fines and make copies, send faxes, or scan at this time. These things do not allow for us to keep the recommended 6 foot distance.
